We are currently hiring for a Physical Therapist at Rainbow Preschool.

Main Function:  Plan, organize, direct and control a program directed at the design and implementation of individual or group physical therapy sessions for each child with adaptation for home and classroom use.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts diagnostic evaluations of children through CPSE for potential therapy and reports thereon.
  • Meets with students, parents, providing counsel and training, as appropriate.
  • Assesses student functions and records results on Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Plans, develops, and implements physical therapy treatment in accordance with the orders of students' physicians.
  • Consults with teaching and support staff to ensure physical therapy is integrated with each students' instructional program as specified.
  • Creates adaptive assistive devices and/or self-help techniques to achieve maximum independence.
  • Prepares internal scripts for physical therapy to be reviewed by the child's doctor.
  • Submits daily session notes on Provider Soft.
  • Communicates with and ensures compliance by assigned staff with safety and good housekeeping procedures, including completing any trainings required by Medicaid or County.
  • Follow through with use of recommended modes of communication i.e.: sign language etc., and/or other assistive technology devices for the individuals served.


College-level knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as well as the natural sciences, acquired through the attainment of a PhD in Physical Therapy, and a New York State licensure in Physical Therapy are required. Three years performing physical therapy in early childhood preferred. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.  Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.  Must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  

Hours:  Part-Time

Pay:  To be discussed at interview
